Are You Waiting Too?
Dear Kindred Spirits in Christ,
Tonight my thoughts are about waiting...waiting for answers, for results, for a sign to move forward or retreat. And wondering how and when or if it will happen, at least in this life. We know as Christians that God answers our prayers in His perfect timing. We realize that He will direct our paths if we trust Him to do so. And we acknowledge that sometimes what we ask for may not be in our best interests. But we want what we want, and we continue to hope for our dreams, for our loved ones circumstances to change, and for a multitude of other things that seem only good to us.
It's written in Psalm 27:14: Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord...
Isaiah 30:18 states: Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
And so we wait and pray and continue our daily walk, believing in God's promises. Patience is a virtue, right? I can't say that it's easy for me to always let go and let God. There have been times when I have received specific indicators that led me to believe my answered prayer was right at the door. In certain times of dire need, it has been. I'm still claiming others, that float around in between current reality and a hazy yearning for change. I remind myself that there is a difference between want and need. I console myself with reminders that I must do what I can and then stand.
Our purpose and duties, and pleasures too, must be within God's will for each of our lives. When it's all said and done, that's really what I want, and I would guess it's how you feel too. God has created us to love and serve Him, and to enjoy the beauty of all He provides. He is profoundly aware of what we are dealing with, and what resides within each of our hearts. He knows what we need, and although it may not correlate with what we want - He will continue to bless us. God moves upon the faith of His people, and as a loving Father, He gives us our heart's desire when and if it is right. Not a moment too soon, or a moment too late...Psalm 130:5: I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope...
Love Always,
Marti
