God Is Our Help

Dear Kindred Spirits in Christ,

As I move within the given spaces of my life, with its predictable daily outcomes and familiar surroundings, I realize that it could all change in a moment's time, and has done so, when I least expected it. And then there is the rest of life, far beyond my limited view. I try, always, to diligently look upon the world through the eyes of faith. If I allowed myself to see the headlines without this Godly filter - the ghastly announcements on the news, the tragic consequences of choices made by our leaders here and abroad, and the overwhelming suffering from global disasters - I would be curled in an embryo position in bed, hiding under the covers.

It's imperative for me, and for all Christians, to do what we can to help, if it's within our means to do so, and to pray without ceasing for all who suffer, as we remember that the Word tells us that the last days will be perilous. How close are we to the end? Only God knows. But the signs are growing rapidly as this fallen world descends into chaos and evil , and we must trust Father's promises to prevail.

I often claim Psalm 121...I will lift up my eyes to the hills - from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved, He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth and even forevermore.

What wonderful promises! And regardless of what happens, we know that our heavenly rewards far outweigh any of it, and that our eternal lives, beyond this time of flesh, are what matter the most. I pray that we are comforted in knowing that we will be here as long as God wants us to be here - and that He will carry us through it all. God is our help! May we go about our daily lives in peace that surpasses all understanding.

Love Always,

Marti
